Become a CWC Ambassador

CWC was started by two high schoolers. You could lead the next chapter.

Writing confidence and creativity have dipped since 2020, and CWC exists to reverse that. Our ambassadors are the high school student leaders who bring CWC to local schools, running themed, story-driven workshops for students in grades 3–8 (fractured fairy tales, spooky stories, Magic Tree House–inspired adventures and more) that kids experience as the best hour of their week.

What you’ll do

  • Reach out to a teacher or principal at a local school, ideally one you went to
  • Meet with the principal and teachers and present the goals of a CWC chapter
  • Develop lesson plans using CWC’s ready-made slides and student workbooks
  • Lead weekly workshops: brainstorming, mini grammar lessons, writing and peer editing
  • Plan icebreakers and games, and help put together the end-of-program magazine of student writing

Time commitment

  • One after-school workshop a week, about an hour, for an 8–10-week program
  • Time to prepare each lesson
  • Our leadership bootcamp before your sessions begin
  • Reaching out to and meeting with your school before the program starts

  • Volunteer hours, signed off by CWC’s founders
  • Mentorship from the founders, who train you in lesson planning and teaching
  • Real leadership and public speaking experience
  • Your own chapter, and a magazine of your students’ writing to show for it

Who should apply

  • High school students who love writing
  • You enjoy working with students in grades 3–8
  • You’re reliable: your students count on you every week
  • Bonus: a school you attended could host a chapter
  • Want to lead with a friend? Co-leaders are welcome

How it works

  2. Interview

    Meet the CWC team so we can get to know you.

  3. Leadership bootcamp

    Training in school outreach, pitching a chapter, planning classes, using the workbooks and public speaking.

  4. Launch your chapter

    Lead your first workshop, with ongoing support from CWC’s leadership team.
